Greeting
Nice to meet you.
I am Terasawa, the owner of Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya, and Miku, the cat mistress.
I would like to summarize how we opened the guesthouse and what we try to do in running it.
◾️We value the homeliness that only a guesthouse can provide.
Mikuniya is a guesthouse that opened in October 2013. My father, who was a social studies teacher, opened the guesthouse after he retired from teaching and wanted to convey the charms of Miyajima to tourists from Japan and abroad.
The guesthouse is a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine, a World Heritage Site, and a 3-minute walk from the scenic Momijidani Park, and is surrounded by rich nature that changes its expression from season to season.
The building was originally used as a recreation center for the Mint, so it is more spacious than most guesthouses. It has a large Japanese garden, a common living room, and a large hall facing a 20-tatami-mat garden. The furnishings in the guesthouse have been selected and arranged to match the stately building, with an emphasis on Japanese-style furnishings.
Meanwhile, we strive to provide our guests with a flexible and courteous service that is not bound by manuals and is at home in a guesthouse setting.
◾️I want customers visiting Miyajima to have many wonderful encounters.
I think the world will be closer to peace as more people travel.
I visited Spain alone a few years ago and had many wonderful encounters. If something happens in Spain in the future, I will remember the people I met there and be concerned about their safety.
Traveling, meeting people and talking directly transforms unfamiliar countries and regions into something with a colorful image. You will be interested in the history and culture of the country or region in order to gain a deeper understanding of that person. If you want to know more about yourself, you may relearn about the country or region where you live.
By doing so, you will become aware of diversity and develop a feeling of compassion for each other. If there are such people all over the world, I think the world will come closer to peace.
I run Mikuniya every day, hoping that customers visiting Miyajima will have many wonderful encounters like I have experienced in Spain.
